May 11-13th San Francisco Bay Area There comes a time when you realize that all the attitude you served up as child was misplaced. Have you been irrational or perhaps acted like a banshee at the people trying to guide you into adulthood? Mother’s Day is an annual reminder to provide a peace offering to the ones who took the hormonal turmoil in stride and continue their tireless journey of supporting you. As we age, the struggles of real life seem to become more apparent and the gems of enlightenment dictated in adolescence accrue more value than ever. How do we acknowledge these coming of age realizations without receiving the still hated “I told you so”? A few years ago a group of friends in the Bay Area concocted a plan to do just that. They gathered their matriarchs for a weekend and gave them the opportunity to swap stories of trials and tribulations. Mothers came from as far as Washington DC to as close as the Sunset district.. Against all odds, conservatives and seasoned hippies coalesced. The women befriended each other, bonding under the unusual circumstances. On that Mother’s Day weekend in 2010, MomConvention was born. MomCon is now in its third year and gaining momentum. In the past years, the organizers have held talent shows, campfires, massage parlors, sightseeing trips, and scrumptious brunches. This year will be built on the foundation of the previous two years, making the event available to the mother–loving public. MomCon 2012 will be the good karma event of the year, with long term hopes that people will be inspired to join the Mom Movement and host conventions in all hemispheres. 1pm Mural Walk in the Mission District meet at Church & market at the stairs to Safeway.
Get a bite to eat and roll over to Dolores Park
4-5pm Dolores Park 18th & Dolores
Meet-up for Sunset-viewing tour bus ride and tea ceremony in Oakland. We will be having a bonfire as well. Make sure to bring enough warm layers with you to Dolores Park. Sack lunch provided. Hearts on napkins, of course!

This is an ongoing class and will be tailored to Mom-centric workouts. Come build your internal spirit with Lying Tiger Skills. Pushups are part of the workout. Wear comfy clothes.

We will have light snacks and tea. Feel free to bring something to much on as we giggle about the weekend to come. There is an optional firepit a bit alter within walking distance.

We will be introducing ourselves and our mothers, playing some get-to-know-you games.

Split off. Mothers who want to go to Imperial Spa are able to. This is a chunk of time to break off into groups or solo time with the kid.

We welcome all friends and family to this event. Come meet our mothers, see some of the talent we put together.
There will be a nominal cover if you didn't bring a mother.

We have prepared for 30 Mothers and Children.
We have paid for the Mothers food ahead of time to get the supplies.
We cannot pay for the childs food. Please be prepared for this. Drinks are also not covered.
We are commandeering room for ourselves during normal brunch, and we will be served family style amazing food by Homemade Hustle.
4:30-10:30 pm:
ADAPTOGEN healing arts salon
This is optional, but is a place where Mom's can receive some work.
This is a room set up in the Twinspace filled with healers of all cloth.
Reiki, massage, Craniosacral therapy.
It is a community style healing center, without individual walls.
We were not able to fund this for your Mother, so the cost is a donation of 10$-200$

Dear Madam / Sir,
We are writing to request your support for Mom Convention 2010, the first Annual Mother’s Day Convention to take place May 7th-9th.
Mom Convention 2010 will be a massive celebration of the women who gave birth to us. A large group of friends who make up a community of amazing people with endless talents, skills, and fun would like to invite our mothers (and our mothers' mothers) to San Francisco, CA for the weekend of Mothers Day. Our theory is that if we all have such a great time together, our moms will too. Many friends will be made and many stories will be told! In order to make this happen, we are having a benefit party in the very near future to pay for plane tickets for the Mothers who are otherwise unable to make it to San Francisco. We would also like to accommodate the traveling moms in all the best ways possible. This will include lodging, food & drink, and activities such as a pampering spa day or a trip to the countryside. MomCon organizers are requesting donations from local establishments and individual contributors to help facilitate this wonderful weekend. This event will bring young and old together to celebrate our collective existence and break down the social barriers that sometimes create a rift between parents and offspring. Our hope is that MomCon will serve as a reminder to never take anything for granted, that life is beautiful, and friends and family are the backbone of our lives. Mom Convention2010 will be documented as a film and long-term hopes are that people will be inspired to join the Mom movement and host conventions all over the world, annually. We would like to mention that we also have utmost respect for our fathers, but we must now honor the strength it must have taken these amazing women to bring us into the world. why: The idea came one emotional night when it was clear to Jamie Bond and I that our friends are extremely kick ass and there is probably someone behind this reason. Since we both love our Mothers deeply, we thought they would get along quite well. Then the idea of flying out the mothers all together so they could all meet each other made us giggle. Since our network of Friends has proven to be amazing, artistic, and powerful, we thought the same might happen with getting to know the Mom's behind the scenes. Also we want our mothers to get to know each other to improve their network of Awesomeness.
Now the idea is planted in your head, it's time to start planning.
We are in the fact finding stages to see if we need a studio or a ballroom to host the main events.
